BLS, ACLS, NIHSS preferredCommon diagnoses/Types of patients Liver/kidney transplant, vascular surgeries like endardectomies and fem/pop bypass, ENT for cancer, facial flaps, throat cancer resection, complicated throat/esophageal infections that compromise airway, abdominal surgery like colectomy, ex-laps, abdominal aneursym, mastectomy, deep tissue flapsExperience or 'Must have' skills early recognition of change in patient condition, clear communication and escalation with providers, critical thinking skills, CRRT, hemodynamic monitoring, chest tubes, ventilator, various drains/surgical sitesAre RNs required to titrate drips? yesCommon titratable &/or set rate drips vasopressin, epinephrine, levophed, heparin, dobutamine, dopamine, versed, hydromorphone, fentanyl, ketamine, nimbex, esmolol, cardeneIs there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? yes; preference is free charge but depends on staffing, right now taking full assignmentAre there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties? intermittent, dependent on census, 1:12 when present. Patient ADL's, blood glucose checks, transport assistHospitalist &/or Intensivist in house 24/7? In the ICU 24/7? yes, intensivist on unit days and/or nights, APP's on unit 24/7RT in ICU 24/7? yesRT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot? not reallyAre there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit?
